I am considering purchasing a 24" High Performance Pathfinder 4kW Radome Antenna for $600. Does anyone have any feedback on this model. I know this has been replaced by the RD424 newer model, but this one is brand new in the box and that seems to be a good price. Also if anyone knows the major differences between the two please let me know.

Thanks!

What unit will you use the dome with. If it is a C series, get the serial # on the dome, and call Raymarine to see if the dome will work with the C. 800-539-5539

I have one on my Parker. I use it with an R80RC head and an L1250CRC.

It works great. Very reliable, good target separation, picks up even small objects. I've never had an issue with rain or sea clutter while using it.

Goumon is right though on checking the s/n if you want to use it with a C or E. There was a cuttoff somewhere in the 2002 timeframe where the domes became compatible with the newer units. Before that cutoff, they won't work together.

Here is the link to check your radome. This was sent to me awhile back, just passing it along. RK

the first 3 numbers of the serial number are the date of manufcture eg. first 3 numbers of 042 would indicate that the manufacture date was April of 2002. To work with a c or e series it would have to have been manufactured after May of 2003.

Thanks for that info guys,,,I checked and the serial # starts with 054 so it will be compatible with my C-series. So I know its made in 2004 but its brand new in the box. Do you think $600 is a fair price for that or should I go lower? If he will only accept 600 is it better for me to just hold off and try and get a new one when economically possible? Thanks again.

Well unless you're buying from a dealer you will not have a warranty, the price is great though.
