hey guys I have a 21 ft mako with a 30 in 250 yamaha on a jackplate(a little under powered) and she is hard to get on plane without a lot of power, so im thinking about installing a hydrofoil any thoughts if they work and what type the perme trim is about two to thre time as much money as other aluminum units like the whale tale or the th marine model any imput would be great thanks;?

What RPM does your motor top out of when getting on plane and what prop do you have on there?

If you have a 21 mako with a 250 that's hard to get on plane..... sumthin ain't right!

thanks for the replies un fortunatly the boat is in the driveway for the winter and i dont rember what rpm she tops out at and i will dig out the prop and find out the size. It seems the boat cruised at low speed with the bow way up in the air and to get the bow down and on good plane if my nonexistent memory serves me im running at about 3500rpm and i think the sweet spot ive been told for a 250 yamaha for economy is 4000- 4100 but that could be BS it seems im going a lot faster than iwould like to just to get the bow down i sort of like to just mowsy around looking for fish no sense running hard thanks in advance PS THE MORE I THINK ABOUT IT IM THINKING SHE TOPS OUT AROUND 5800 TO 6000 RPM BUT NOT 100 %;?
