Are there any clubs in my area that I am not aware of? If not, Someone want to start one? It would be great to find others in the area to meet up with from time to time. Anyone...?
There is Central Florida Offshore Anglers (CFOA) and Florida Sport Fishing Assoc. (FSFA). Google them and you will find lots of info. What part of Merritt Island are you on? I live off Banana River Dr. on Rochelle Pkwy. Mark.

Another great resource for that local area is boatbrevard dot com.
When it gets warmer we should do a gathering at the bird islands just south of Newfound Harbor in the Banana River. It's a great place to have a cookout, go tubing, jet ski, etc.....

I live just South of 528 off Banana River Drive on Riviera Drive. I go out the Central Avenue Canal ...
I have never been to that area as I have anchored up a couple times at "Waterski Island" just North of 528 by the lock.... are the bikini's just as good at your place as they are at Waterski Island..?!?!

They are both great islands.. Ski island has website ski-island dot com. I have not found one for Bird island yet..
I live at the end of the canal 2 canals north or the Central canal. The bird islands are more fun than Ski island in my opinion, but ski island is good to. The best thing about the bird islands is no manatee zone. You can tube, ski, etc... right there. In the summer time if I'm not fishing you can find me there beer in hand. The sandbar at Sebastian inlet is a lot of fun also.

Nitz,
Have beer, will travel! We are totally up for that get together and I make a mean set of ribs on hte BBQ and my chicken wings are to die for! We were actually thinking of heading out this weekend on the boat but things are getting screwed up ... perhaps next weekend ... Check your THT email, I'll be sending info ...
Sounds great! Went out today to ski island, but it was still a little cold w/ the wind. Another few weeks and it should be really nice!

Its supposed to be 81 degree's on Saturday with a 30% chance of rain .... sounds like its time to break out the sunblock!
By the way, Shannan and I are big "on the water by boat" kind of people and besides Applebees on Sykes Creek and The "River Roost" on the West side of the Banana River at Route 520, are there other "on the water" places that we don't know about?
We've never been to Sundowners on the East side of 520 because it looks more like a restaurant than a place to drink a few.... Any ideas...?
By the way, Larry, who owns the River Roost is a great guy! We go there on Saturdays and/or Sundays when we are fishing the Banana and they always have live music and its just a great place to go. It can be a little tricky to get into but you just have to remember to hug the Route 520 shoreline all the way from the main channel.
Applebee's, which unfortunately we can't get to that easily from our house unless we take the barge canal and then Sykes Creek because the Route 520 underpass won't allow my top thru, is a great place to go because they always have football on Sundays (NFL Package) and it would appear that ALL the bartenders who work there must pass the "C" cup test ( . )( . ) before they are hired... !!! ... Another problem with Applebee's is that they have no "tie ups" so either you bring something to stick in the dirt to tie up to or if you're lucky, there won't be someone already tied up to their deck and that is usually the first place that gets all tied up to....
Anyone know of other places that might be of interest...?

It should be a good turn out at Ski Island this weekend... We hope to go out both days. For restaurant ideas, check out the discussions at http://www.boatbrevard.com/forum/topics/places-to-eat-on-the-banana and at http://www.boatbrevard.com/forum/topics/places-to-eat-on-the-indian . The site is working on creating a directory that will list all the local spots soon. Hope to see you out there..
Tony, that is one thing that is really lacking in our area is waterfront bars/restaraunts(sp?) that you can go to by boat. There are a couple good ones in the Indian River. Conch Key is just north of the Pineada Causeway on the west side (good food, nice tiki bar), Katana's is another bar just South of there, and Old Florida Seafood is Just South of the first powerplant in Pt. St. John (food is tolerable but not great, cold beer!). Of course the best bar on the water near us imho is Capt. Hirams at Sebastian. It take about 1.5 hrs to get there, but it is lots of fun with live music, great food, and their prices aren't too obscene. They also have a hotel on site if you want to make a night of it. In the summer its fun to go up to New Smyrna and go to Disappearing island, but its too windy this time of year to make that run. I'm sure the wife and I will head out this weekend. I'll pm you if we do. Mark
