Close friend has a condo in MB where we've spent many days as regular tourists. We now have a boat and were wondering what, if any, opportunities there are to use it there for recreation and/or fishing. The boat is an 18' dual console Century and we have limited experience so ocean is out of the question. I know there's the ICW and Murrells Inlet - how are they? Anything else? Thanks.

ICW from hwy17 bridge to the N or E is a breeze you can go all the way to Southport for a nice day trip. ICW S or W from there is rely narow and pretty boring although past South Myrtle hwy 501 it becomes pretty scenic especialy in the wacamaw river section. This section is also pretty isolated so be prepared with plenty of fuel.
Fishing is good spring-fall in the ICW from hwy 17 to the N_E around docks and grass beds . But the inlet mouth and rocks of Little River would be your best bet. The jettys keep this inlet from shoaling and unless you have a strong wind, it nomally stays calm.

Keep in mind, if there are fishing poles in the boat, each person must have a SC fisihing license.

As mentioned, a day trip up the waterway is a great trip. Bird Island or pull into Calabash for lunch. If you do not want to go that far up, there is also the docks at Barefoot Landing .

Enjoy................

Anyone know where if there is a campground at MB that has a boat ramp or dock onsite?

I stay up in the Cherry Grove area and use the public ramp at 53rd Ave. It puts you in Hog Inlet, just south of Little River. You can fish in there or go out the mouth of the inlet and head north towards Little River. Never too much in the way of boat traffic. Just another option.
