Why are there not more enclosed center consoles like the Maritime Skiff 23' Voyager? I know you can go the custom route, but are there other brands? They seem practical.

I am talking more about a true enclosure (fiberglass) not canvas, but the everglades sure is a nice boat.

I work in a 1981 Boston Whaler Frontier pilot house. Awesome boat for working in the hot South Florida sun year round. I've learned to love the pilot house style boats.
Check this one out if money is no object.

For years Shamrock built them. Eastern built a 26 Pilot house last year and had it at the boat shows. The Mirage 32 Pilot House is very cool. You can buy a pilot house from these guys and put it on anything. http://pacificpilothouse.com/

There all very nice, but I'm would like to see some below the 60k mark in the 23 ft. range. Those boats are nice  , but have big $ tags. That is why I like the Maritime Skiff, enclosed pilot house without having it be all the way forward like a Parker (no offense) and you still have the center console design.

Osprey Boats in Washington state made a TRUE pilothouse but it obviously
didn't sell, ditto for the Shamrock. Both looked GREAT!

I'm guessing that the ratio of boaters that would like the pilot house ( more popular in the North ) are not near the amount of boaters that are in the Southern area's because of the warmer climates....The Southern boaters would probably gravitate more to a Center Console than a Pilot House ...... The cost difference is a factor also .....I wrote to M.S. and asked if they could sell me a pilot house like the one they had on their 23 ft Voyager ....I'm sure that you're all aware of the high prices on M.S. boats to begin with, and the ongoing debate as to whether they are worth the $$$ ......They said they would sell me a pilot house seperately, but the cost of it came in at 1/2 the cost of the finished boat !!... :o .......So much for a nice M.S. pilot house !!...Pacific Pilothouses are not cheap either especially if you live in on the East Coast and have to have it shipped ...... I think a good businessman that worked with fiberglass would be very smart by openning up a Pilot House Retrofit shop in the North East given they offered their product at a fair price , even given this turbulant economy !! ....Jim

Well I know over the last 9 years I have gotten wimpier each fall striper fishing. The 3 sided enclosure is better than the open console I started in but it gets tougher each fall to take the cold spray every once in a while. I run a party boat some days and have been spoiled by closing the door to the wheelhouse and turning down the heat as it got too warm. I always wondered why more companies did not try to imitate the "partyboat" style in a center console.
If you are truly handy you can make one out of FG or even aluminum. My next one will most likely be a Black Lab. Gotta love the low maintanence and economy seen in those boats. Probally slightly higher investment but she will last forever.

Too bad Mirage in Gainesville discontinued the pilothouse line. They were
great looking and must be x'clent offshore boats. They are building large
trawlers now that don't look too bad either. I'd love to see them start back
on the pilothouse. Wait >>> I've got a new Florida Powerball ticket in my
wallet.
