I Got a two sided one from WM. Works fine.

Please remember (but you already know) that a regular garden hose may not deliver enough water to a high power outboard . . . the engine may overheat

Also, I found that by adding a web strap that I could get the earmuffs tighter so that less water escaped

If you are asking about a volvo I/O, you should NOT use earmuffs. What you need is a flush valve in the raw water intake hose. Mine is a PERKO and it is under the engine box approx 18" before the pump. I would almost bet that the straight inboard would be the same.

Just had another thought. Mine is a 1979 vintage. A newer one may be different. Where is your raw water pump located?
