The Boating Forum - Engine Issue???

Went to take a trip and the "dock boy" that pulled the boat around after it was put in the water told me the starboard engine was not working right. (Had it put in while on the way down). No problems on the last trip, everything was fine. Basically, the engine was in forward when the shifter was in neutral. Moved to reverse and gave it a little gas and the engine just reved up, wouldn't go into reverse. Very hard to get it back to forward. Short story, went and ran it a bit , worked fine as long as you didn't need to go in reverse. Eventually, just straightened itself out and never acted up the rest of the day. Took her out the next day, like nothing was ever wrong. Any suggestions???
