I've read that they are great for freediving but I don't know anyone who has tried one.

I have I think five masks total and one is a frameless. Is not a bad mask but a bit small in frame. It works great when freedivin but I would rather use a larger glass with a low cut when I hunt. It all has to do on what you're going to be doing UW.

With everyone having a unique shape in their face, they'll all have a favorite. We have a crew of 5-6 or so we regularily freedive with and I like the Omer Aries 39, others like the Omer bandit, others the Omer Alien and others the Riffes (including the frameless). Try some on at your local dive shop and see what feels good to you.

When I freedive I wear the Omer Bandit. Comfortable, good vis, low volume. I don't really care for the frameless ones. Just pick the one that fits the best. My eyes are getting bad though, so I recently went back to a more scuba style mask with custom glass. Works fine.
