Hello All,
I was thinking about getting a place or Dock/Slip somewhere on the coast of NC. I want something other than Holden Beach,We have a few lots there. looking at the Oriental area. Does anyone know much about this area? Water front , with a dock would be nice. Allen

MoAllen,
I worked on a project for a summer at the mouth of the Neuse River. I lived in Morehead City though.
As far as the Neuse River/Pamlico Sound, its got good fishing. Big red drum and tarpon in the summer. Spanish maks, puppy drum, flounder, trout, spot, from spring to fall. There were tons of shrimp when I was there in 2003. Up the creeks there is excellent bass fishing.
Don’t know too much about real estate prices there. Oriental calls itself “The Sailing Capital of the World” and the Oriental Yacht Club is full of sail boats. But I think the good ol’ boys are still the majority. About the only downside that comes to mind is the hordes of mosquitoes that attacked us every night when the wind wasn’t blowing.

I think Oriental would be an excellent place to buy a house. chip.

Was in Oriental a few months ago and was suprised how the home/land prices had skyrocketed. You can go up the river a short distance tho and find good buys on what they call creeks, and most are fairly deep with direct river access.

Allen - any canal front lots in Holden? Want to sell?
