I've been waiting 15 years for my first "boat" and although it doesn't have a motor, it will work great for right now. I picked up a Ocean Kayak Malibu II, tandem sit-on kayak. I was planning on getting a solo kayak, but a coworker sold me it for $100. It will work great to get started and have fun with my girlfriend. It's 12 feet long but fit almost perfect on my mazda 3. I purchased an inexpensive kit from Sports Authority and it fits well for right now. I am going to keep my eye out for a good deal on a Thule or Yakima room rack.
I went over to West Marine and picked up two inflatable suspender style lifevests. They were regulary priced at $120, marked down to $99 and one was marked down to $70. Salesguy gave us both of them for $70 plus 50% off so we couldn't pass them up.
I will be using it next weekend, I think we will be going out to Jonathan Dickenson State Park. I've never been on kayak before but have canoed a few times. I have been wanting a kayak for a couple years and finally bought one. I'm not into fishing too much, but will probably use it once in a while for that.
I just thought I'd post. I noticed this forum seems to be very slow. I will get a picture of it next weekend. There are a few things I want to buy, especially seats (or atleast seat backs).
Hope you guys are all enjoying your kayaks and can't wait to get out on the water! :tht_rulez:
