I have searched for a definative answer to this question and I am left still wondering.
My boat has a Hard T-Top. Plates are being welded in sometime in the next two weeks. It seems that there are 3 worthy outrigger base manufacturers. Rupp,Lees,Taco.
I really like the look of the Lee Sidewinders and have heard good things about there easiness to use. I like the Rupp Z-30's, and many people have the Tacos 250's,350's. Whats the best?
I am not so worried about switching up outrigger poles if I need to. I am far more concerned with my bases and I only want to buy and install them once. I would rather have bases that are overkill and over built than just sufficient enough for the job.
I have heard that the Taco 350's are twice as heavy as the 250's. Which is a concern.
So my question here is what are the best outrigger bases for a T-Top boat.
Am I asking a similar question as "what's better ford or chevy?"

Thanks for your imput.

I don't think there is a "best". You can't go wrong with any of the three. Kind of like Ford and Chevy. All three have different features that appeal to different tastes. Lees have a great reputation, (many battle wagons run the larger models), look great, and now offer both telescoping and stationary poles. Taco offers several models/price ranges, and with the GS350 model offers the ability to raise and lower the angle of the poles from the cockpit. Rupp is also known for quality and used by many battle wagons. Their Top Guns also come in two models, with the Z-30 performing the same way as the Taco GS350.

Depends on what you want to spend, and what your needs are. In my case I went with the Taco GS350's. They look great, and since I need to go under a draw bridge to reach the inlet, I like the convenience of being able to raise and lower the riggers from the cockpit. Comes in handy when I'm by myself. They are heavy, but not so much that I would buy another model/brand due to the weight. To me weight= heavy duty/well built.

All are different flavors of vanilla. I have the Rupp Top Guns and they are great. In my view ease of use the key and I like not having to get on the gunnell to deploy them.
