Marketing gimmick...

Larson, right?

Each MFG tries to come up with a catchy phrase to help "boost" their brand above the next one.

Off the top of my head was Bayliner's "Sequential lift hull".

The "sizzle" sells the steak.

Heck, folks still fall for "Boat show special" pricing and "feight and prep"...

Don't buy the fluff, buy the product.

Fluff or not I ran a few Delta-conic hulls and they ride decent, There were more than one manufacturer using it. I remember liking the looks and performance.

I had one on my first boat - Trojan 10 meter international. It had a steep deadrise at the bow, and was <10 degrees at the transom. The key design feature was inverted chines at the water line around a third of the way back from the bow. It was extremely stable while drifting, and very dry. Downside was it took a lot of power to get up on plane, and wasn't great in a beam sea.

The International series Trojans pushed the Delta conic hulls also, they rode great.

Delta Conic...Harry Schoell patents are usefull as well(delta conic hull design, and duo-delta conic hull. This guy has done a ton of empiral research as well.



When Patrick Haughey bought Active Thunder Boats in 1994 he didn&rsquo;t come looking to clean house and start building all kinds of new models. Instead, the performance boating enthusiast vowed to make improvements where necessary and maintain the integrity of the brand, which was established six years earlier.
Eventually the owner developed a couple of new models, starting with a 37-foot V-bottom in 1998 and a 28 footer one year later. But the next creation the Pompano Beach, Fla., builder introduced wasn&rsquo;t until 2006-the 33 Evolution.
The new 33-foot V-bottom was intended to replace the company&rsquo;s 32-footer that originated in 1988. Haughey enlisted boat designer Harry Schoell, who designed the bottom the company&rsquo;s 37 Excess, to incorporate Schoell&rsquo;s patented Duo Delta Conic (DDC) single-step hull.
With Schoell&rsquo;s two-hulls-in-one design, Haughey said the ride in the 33 Evolution is incredible. According to Haughey, the boat is nearly 10-percent faster with the same engine package then the 32-footer.

Also...Don Aronow and Harry Schoell &quot;came up&quot; with the 35' Cigarette about two years before it came out as 'The Mistress' and 'Awesome'. The plug sat upside down, as it was built, in Aronow's shop &quot;Until someone beats the 36'&quot;. The 35' was a breakthrough of sorts, with a real straight chine and constant aft sections for about 12', then sweeping up to the bow (called a knuckle). The 36' at 81mph would start to chinewalk, then gunwale walk, then throw your ass OUT! The straight sections raised the TYAO speed to about 100 mph. The 35 was stretched, stretched again, restretched, then lengthened, then made longer. It kept getting better and better.......... Think: 47' Apache, 44 Peter Dean (Australia), etc.

The man is a genious, and am not only glad to have met him, but I owned one of the 37 Active Thunders called Radio Active that to this day still tours the powerboat poker runs..great boat..

Those were originally North American hulls...I had a 1979 North American C-22, 22 ft center console with the Harry schoell sp?, delta conic hull, it was VERY stable at drift or anchor, no rolling, needed tabs to run at speed in head seas over 3ft.......

Larson-International bought the molds.
