Hey John, I bought an Avet SX 5.1 from you about a year ago.

I currently have an St. Croix TIC76HF attached with it. I do fishing around the Long Island Sound area and I think the stick is too heavy for me to feel any bites. What rod would you recommend me getting to pair off with the reel? I love the reel though.

I mainly fish for blackfish, porgy, and striper.

I fish for the same fish you listed including fluke with that reel. My stick is an St. Croix Avid series AC70HF.

7' Heavy Fast...the tip is real sensitive and I can get 1lb fluke it with it, or 50+ lb black drum in the delaware bay with the reel spooled with 30lb braid.

Alot of people use that 7'6 st croix and love it with the SX. Are you using braid on the reel?

Yeah, I am using braid. Its just that it does not seem sensitive enough for porgies. Maybe I need something else seperately for that? I've neglected it since I thought it was not working. Since its striper season I think its time to try again.
