Hello Wiley and all. I'm about to buy either an outback or a Revolution but can't decide. I'm 6', 220lbs. and want to peddle, sail, paddle, fish in that order. My dealer says outback but I read you traded in for a Revo.Any advise will be appreciated. Thanks, Rob

For sailing, you'd be better off with the adventure... has dagger board. Also could be upgraded to an adventure island... too much hardware for me to enjoy minimalist kayaking, but that thing can rip across the water.
But generally speaking, if it's outback vs. revo I think revo wins for almost all applications.

I have a Revo, Outback and an Adventure, all are good boats but are different depending on what you want to do
My thoughts on each,
Adventure -
Pros, Sails well, fast, long leg room, my primary boat, paddles well
Cons, long boat and hard to store & carry, Its a wet boat, hard to get into front hatch
Revo-
Pros, Sails well, fast, good front hatch access, paddles well
Cons, good leg room, but its a narrow boat, which means its not good for wide persons, a little wet sometimes.
Outback -
Pros, Handles big people well, good leg room, Sails off the wind , but not close, Lots of room, carriers alot weight, plenty of space on sides to put stuff in, Dry boat
Cons - Boat leans to one side when lightly loaded, you should be 200 lbs to sink to "its lines" otherwise is feels, but isn't tippy, not good boat to paddle, it is slower than the above boats to peddle,
Just my opinoin all are great boats and are alot of fun to peddle around

You made a good choice. Have fun rigging her and then get her out there!

I am one of the first dealers for the Hobie Mirage drive kayaks. I have fished out of the Outback since day one and never looked back at paddles. Some good info has been posted above so I wont repeat it. In my opinion the Outback is the best fishing craft of all the mirage driven models. It is plenty fast for fishing trips up to 10 miles. The Revo would be better for trips up to 20 miles. The wide gunnels on the outback give us a ton of rigging options when we customize them for customers. The Revo lacks the wide gunels. The built in trays on the gunnels are my favorite things about the Outback. I use them all the time and would be lost without them. The outback is so dry you can fish it in sweatpants as I have been doing for 10 years even in water temps down in the 45 degree range. I had 70 stripers just in the past week in my outback. The adventure no longer sells I dont even order them in anymore. If speed is most important to you the Revo is just as fast as the Adventyrere without all the hassles of owning a 16 foot craft.
Im curious why you had to order a Revo. Authorized dealers are required to stock the boats. I keep around 100 in stock.

Hi Barrell and all. I have been using the revo and love it. As for the question about ordering one that was for a color [Ivory]. There were other to choose but it seems I vory is very popular here in S.W. Florida. Thanks for the input everyone, Rob

As soon as your legs build up get the turbo flippers. They are a huge advantage on all the boats but on the Revo the difference will blow your mind. We always keep them in stock.

Barrell: Do you own a kayak shop? If so, where? Website?
