I'm looking at a 2004 Sea Pro SV2100. The boat was under a water repellent cover for a while. When I took off the cover, I noticed a little haze/fog/condensation in a couple of the gauges on the console. The boat looks like it's in excellent condition otherwise.

How common is this for gauges on the console? Should I be greatly concerned about it?

I was thinking that it may be caused by a couple of factors. First, perhaps air/moisture is trapped under the water repellent cover. Then, second, the gauges can have air/moisture enter them from the back (under the console?). If the boat were not covered like that, maybe they wouldn't be fogged up like that? (It had been raining pretty hard the prior day.)

Thanks for any helpful input! :)

I had my gauges wired so that they are always backlit when ignition is on. Solved the ongoing problem for me.

Common issue on most boats. No big deal.

It's quite common, although you can usually get the gauge replaced for condensation if the motor is under warranty. The corrective action is simple, just turn the instrument lights on for a while and the heat will dry them out. Good luck!
