I want to buy this unit and use it as a plotter and fishfinder, I am going to use an Airmar thru-hull. do I need anything special to make this work? IE bundle network?

The bundle adds the weather receiver which requires a subscription. If you are not going to buy the sunscription for weather then no reason to get the bundle. What you need is the 3210, GSD-22 Sounder Module, and the Ducer. Here are the links:
