i am looking for a source to buy mustad 3407ssd hooks in sizes larger than 12/0. any suggestions?

I'm not sure about that model but we use 16/0, 18/0, and 20/0 on a regular basis. We order them in large quantities. You might try Seattle Fisherman's Supply (not sure that's the name but you can google it). Good luck.

i use them for large groupers in the sea of cortez, i pour 16 ounce leadheads with them for use with 9.5 inch scampi jigs.

i use the big scampi's on 16-24 oz jig heads for halibut, ling cod, and rockfish up in Alaska (but they are J-hooks on the jigs).

Any particular color better for you down there?

i use j hooks on mine as well and find that root beer flake is the best color althogh motor oil and white work well to.
