Anyone ever use a float while spearfishing near rigs or any other structure? Do the float lines hold up or do they easily get cut when they rub up against structure while fighting a fish?

They do get cut and you can't tell in most cases only to loose a bigger fish or even the shaft later but you can also just buy another. You may want to try a reel, at least you can pull on it but at the end it all depends on the size of the fish and location.
