Need a reasonably priced hotel/motel located close to Fisherman's Landing.
The LR Shogun boat pulls back in after the 10 day'er in the morning of the 5th.
i'm planning to spend and day + night in san diego and look around and kills some time while the processors take care of the catch and flash freeze the goods before going back up to my sister's in thousand oaks.
Any advice? If a hotel with open parking lot, should i be worried about gear i leave in the back of the SUV? ;?
after a bit of research -- seems to be Dolphin Motel (200' from the docks) is a very good + cheap place.
any info on them from THT'ers?

Let me bug Sheila - she knows the area better than I do.
I WOULD however suggest taking your gear up to your room. Although the surrounding area (Pt. Loma) is pretty nice, it's still pretty much downtown waterfront. Better to not take a chance with your gear OR your vehicle (say a busted window to get to the gear).
A few years back, anywhere near the sportfishing docks had a solid rep for auto burglary and auto theft.

Sheila says she really doesn't know that particular hotel.
