Will be staying near PC for 2 weeks in August. We have friends who will bw staying with us for 3-4 days. They have a 10 year old autistic son who really enjoys seeing dolphin. I'll have my Whaler behind the house so getting out to the bay will be very easy. Is their a particular time and or place I should be looking? Early morning around Manns harbor bridge? I have seen the dolphin boat tours in past years but really did not pay any anttention to where they where going. I have seen dozens off the beach in a matter of 30 minutes but taking him to the beach is very difficult to say the least. He loves being in the boat and I think that is our best route.

You will see them frequently in the channel between PC and Oregon Inlet. I believe I have seen them more later in the day than in the morning.

I just returned from Pirates Cove today. We played around in the sound for several hours yesterday. The dolphin were thick around the #7 and #8 markers which are not too far past Wanchese when heading to OI. I regularly see them from this area to the turn to go to the OI marina. There were also some dolphin out in front of PC that the tour boats were following, but they were way out in the sound in the shallower areas.

You can also book a ride on tour boats that specialize in finding and following the tune :)

From Priates Cove to the Currituck bridge, I crab all around that area. Many days I see a couple hundred. Give me a call when you get here and I'll try to give you an update... Gene (cell 252 202 6469)
