Folks, I stor my boat in MHC on a trailer and trailer it to the water. T data I have been buying 15-20 bags of ice per trip from a local convienient store to fill my fish box and bait coolers.

It occurs to me that there has to be a better way, I have two related questions.

1) Is there a place where I can buy bulk ice and just scoop a few shovels full into my fish locker?

2) Where can I fing block ice in that area?

I am not sure about that area, but as an example there are local fish/shrimp marts around Georgetown SC where we boat sometimes. One being Independence Seafood, and you can tie up at their dock, take a bigass cooler in there, and they'll fill it up with ice for you from their giant blocks and ice fridge. Usually they'll just be like "oh give me $5 or something"....

Captain Stacy has ice, would save you some money over the bags.

I believe that most of the fish markets will sell you bulk ice. Someone mentioned Captain Jim's.

Fish houses' ice is great for FISHBOX ice, not so much for your drinks. Here at Wrightsville Beach, we use Motts Channel seafood. You can get a 60 lb shrimp basket of ice for $3.

Cant beat it. Captain Stacy's is a good choice for Morehead City/ Atlantic Beach.

In the parking lot of the shopping center in Beaufort, they just put in one of the new ICE POD trailer things. Stick your cooler under the shoot and you can fill 150 qt cooler for about $6 I think we figured.

Beaufort Square Shopping Center on Rt 70 just outside Bft on the way to Harker's has the new ice POD. You could also try Beaufort Ice behind the court house downtown.

The Dairy Queen is on the corner at the light. While you're there stop by Mario's and get a slice of the best Pizza in Beaufort.

Pretty sure there is a "twice the ice" stand alone trailer in your area. Just check the internet and find it. They are usually the cheapest around or close to it.

Just an update to this thread from a couple of months ago...

Here's a link to Twice the Ice, where you can find information and maps to locations in Beaufort, Morehead City (one block over from the end of the causeway), and Newport (Hwy 70 beside Bojangles a few miles before getting into Morehead City), as well as a video to see how it works:

If I remember correctly, a 16# bag is $1.50, or get 20# without a bag.

The best place in Beaufort for Ice is the "Ice House" behind the police station. The ice is solid and NOT full of air like the 'ice in a box" stuff at the Shopping Center. That ice doesn't last until lunch before it is melted in the fish box. It is the type of ice you get in fountain drinks.

Should be one of those ice pods soon in the parking lot of the Scotchman on the AB causeway.
