Can the receiver be mounted inside the console? I have a dual console boat and would like to keep it underneath so my kids don't accidently hit or damage it.

Try this: wire up the system, place the antenna whereever you want without screwing it down in place. Then fire up the gps to see if you lock on and get the proper performance. But just off the cuff, i don't think your reception will be good under fiberglas.

A good idea, I tried it and works under the console. I attached it with some double sided foam tape so I can use it a few more times to be sure before I drill the holes.
