What would be best autopilot for a 28' cc with 2x225 (Optis - 2001)?
Main use would be for trolling and cruising - not wreck fishing or anything requiring advanced features! TR-1 seems to be the best in market but may be too pricey and advanced for my needs.
Price, reliability and ease of function are main considerations.

IMO, Simrad "wrote the book on autopilots". Customer service I've receivedfrom them is the best I've ever seen from anyone!

TR-1 is the best way to go. I know that it seems expensive, but once you use it , you will never look back

no one here is saying why a tr-1 is better...here's why:
if you fish get the tr-1..... look down this post for a guy that owned both a tr-1 and a simrad named hare2:
further here's a guy who burned up a simrad doing what a tr-1 does naturally (the tr-1 auto disconnects when you turn the wheel)
further a tr-1 will work in reverse and hold you in current as a virtual anchor while you catch baitfish....no other AP does that....

Rumor has it the TR-1 might be a bit more competitive pricewise now that they've been acquired by Garmin.
I had one on my last boat, the "virtual anchor" is the bomb.
