I recently switched from NT+ to MAX and I am somewhat disappointed. The coverage is so wide compared to NT+ it takes much to long to refresh the screen. Also I am running it on a Simrad CX44E navstation and now C-MAP is telling me that not all of the features will run on this unit. I would like to hear from some others users regarding their opinion of MAX.

Have the new MAX wide card and no problems. The slow redraw is probably due to your chartplotter unit, and not the MAX card. Does Simrad tell you they are 100% compatable or is there a software upgrade you might need to have installed.

Not sure it's worth a total replacement of an NT+, but when I purchased mine I was getting a completly new gps/chartplotter.

I am going through the same problems with extremely slow re-draw times, they say it is from running software 3.05 while they are up to 4.25 now. I am sending the unit back to them on Monday after the weekend tournament, will let you know how it comes back. As for the features not being compatible, I agree, totally unacceptable for such a top of the line unit. They have been bought by Northstar, and the CX series is tapped out of funding and is not going any further than it is now.

I have the Simrad cx44e running 4.25 with MAX and the refresh is a bit slow.

My software is up to date. I sent it back to Simrad during the winter and had it updated with the latest revision.

Northstar (which was part of the Navman/Northstar Brunswick new technologies) was purcahsed by Navico. Navico also owns B & G, Lowrance, Simrad and Eagle.

I have a Standard Horizon which has a good redraw time with the C map MAX, but I don't really use the extra features of MAX, even though the S H 175 is designed for the Max charts.
The CX 44E is listed as C map as an NT+ compatable, not as a MAX compatable chart plotter.

Max works great on my Furuno NN2 units. No slow response at all.

I just sent my furuno gp7000 back as it wont power up to the self check screen and the screen stays black intermittentley from start up. I take the c-map max card out and it works ok. My unit also locks up for no apparent reason. It is also slow to redraw ships postion in the north up mode, but I'm not sure if its a problem with card or a software issue?. Will wait and see when it returns.
