I have a 3205 unit that turn itself off every about 30 minutes or so. How can I set it from turning itself off?

Check for a loose fuse connection, loose power cable connection, corrision on your electrical connection, or a loose connection on the electrical source side.

I had teh same thing. Especially when it would turn on then go off. Do you get voltage warnings? Mine was from power surge or rather lack of battery power.

Garmin tech support think it is a power spike in the line or loose connection. I checked the connection they are tight. I will replace the fuse and see what happen. Does any body know of a inline power surge-spike suppressor for 12 V.

There's a socket on the plotter that the power cable connects to right? Screwing the locking ring down tight does nothing for a corroded connection inside. Unscrew it, get some contact cleaner from your local Radio Shack and spray the contacts inside the plug and socket. Plug it in and pull it and a few times and repeat. Then take a small quantity of dielectric grease and apply to the conections and reconnect the plug. That fixed mine. :)

Thank Ron. I will try that. Which model of the plotter do you have? Come to think about it, I have the other 3205 that it never have turned itself off. I had to sent that one back because during the software updated, it freez up. The current unit is a replacement from Garmin, only a couple of months old. I will try to clean the power cable connector as you suggested.
