I have a '92 pro v 150 yammie, the thing runs great except at idle. It is hard to keep running when I first start it, and once warmed up, it will cut out with a sneeze at idle. Idle is set to 800-900 rpms out of gear. I tried raising it to 1100 rpms just as a test (no driving) and it still cut out.

Carbs were just cleaned and adjusted to specs (as far as I can). Brand new fuel tank, fuel lines, and brand new gas- have not even burned a tank yet, 5 days old.

It will cut out suddenly with a sneeze is the best I can describe. It is also a bear to keep running when you launch for the day- I wish it had a fast idle system or method.

I installed new plugs, they are BR8HS-10 instead of the normal B8HS-10 plugs- does this matter much? Doesnt seem to run any differently.

Please help, docking is a total nightmare and I am afraid I may run into someones boat when I lose power.

Thanks

It sounds like one of your low speed jets still has some blockage. While at idle (or just above idle) pull off one spark plug wire at a time (with plastic pliers) and listen for a change in the sound of the engine, you may have to touch the wire to the tip of the plug a few times to really hear it. If you do not hear a change in the sound of the engine when you pull a certain plug then you may still have some dirt in the carb feeding that cylinder.

that is a lean sneeze
put carbs out and clean them good
replace all the parts
make sure the floats are set right
