This was during a Shark Tournament a few years ago on my old boat, a 27 Whaler Offshore. It was a pretty rough day. Pics never show it but you can see a pretty large roller in one of the pics.
Photoshop!!! :jk: You are known to keep your boats very clean though. Nice day.

It was a Tournament. All the tournaments donate the sharks to the Bedford Institue of Oceanography for reserch.

Easy gentlemen. If you ever fished a tourny, look around after the weigh in. They carve up the blue sharks and give them to food banks- At least thats what they do here on Long Island, NY. I never tasted blue shark, thankfully I do not need to eat from a welfare assisted program. I catch plenty of blue sharks and will only consider gaffing one over 250 # in a tourny...

Thank you for the support....for a minute, I thought I was on a green peace web site. We catch and release all fish up here other than the one or two tournaments we do a year................

It all sounds good, but stick around and watch what the researchers do. They take a sample about the size of a baseball and then they dump the rest.... How many Blue sharks do you figure they need to "Research"

I dont think I am bashing just want to know why a shark that is of no use to him is being killed..
Also at 10 feet and 300 pounds this shark is no where near any State record........ So again I think my question was appropriate.....
Sorry guys it just brings me back to those "BAD" shark tournys they show on TV!
