I thought the boat model year changes in June.
Does anyone know when the 2008 model year starts ?
Specifically Hydra Sports and Sea Hunt.

Thanks

While we are on this, my hull I. D. number ends with 0606. I bought the boat at a show in March of '06. I am not fussing here, just wondering if these numbers make sense??

Sorry to derail the thread.
Carry on.

The 06 indicates a 2006 model. The first 6 is the year that it was built. If was built in the fall of 2005 as a 2006 model. The HIN would end in 506. Both boats would be 2006 models. Note that some models have a price increase at the first of the year so the 506 boat might have cost less than the 606. Also, there are sometimes mid year model changes so the 606 boat might have upgraded features to go along with the higher price.

Boat companies, like car companies can change to a new model year when they want to. The regulations say the HIN has to have the correct mfg date when it leaves the factory but the model year can be whatever. The last two digits in the HIN are model year , the two before the model year are the mfg date code. The date code consists of a letter (A-L to correspond with the month, A-Jan B-Feb etc) and a number that represents the year.

Now that it is as clear as mud I'll be leaving.

You are right, so it can not be 0606. That first O (in 0606) is probably a C. The largest letter that the first letter can be is an "L" for December. Most manufacturers stamp their hull numbers when the boat is laminated. Some (Fountain is one) stamp them when the boat completes. In any case somewhere on the transom starboard side is where you'll find it.

Yamaha has done away with model year motors. Therefore, there won't be a 2008 model motor. I believe that Merc and Honda are following suit.
