Good morning fellow boaters!
Looks like it's official, I've visited seemingly every other boater forum on the web and this one has shown by far to be the one most devoid of arrogance and ignorance that I have found to date.
I never had the first internet "chat" in my life before buying an old Hatteras last summer and being directed to the Hatteras owner's forum. Lots of very intelligent and fun guys on that one sprinkled with a few a$$holes and snobs who just were not happy in their lives and wanted us all to join them.
I hung around a while on the BoatUS site looking for intelligent conversation but had to talk to myself to get it. A handfull of good guys, but the percentages were as small as some of their boats. Apparently somebody in a big boat passed by one day and made them spill their chocolate milk, and now they hate anybody who owns a boat over 40 feet long.
The boater "dead" folks proved to be just that. Nothing more needs to be said.
So far so good with all of you! I certainly do hope certain other "unhappy boaters" don't follow me to this place. It would seem I have developed quite a following for whatever reason, both good and bad, but before visiting some of these other forums, I thought "unhappy boater" was an oxymoron. Let's just say there seem to be plenty of oxy morons out there.
For better or worse, the 'bird has landed. I'll do my best to make it for better. Let's just hope nobody makes it for worse.
If I get out of hand or too far off track for anyone's taste, I see this site has been blessed with private message capabilities. I have always invited constructive criticism in every aspect of my life, and this one is no different.
Alright, let's talk about boats and stuff and have a little fun, share some thoughts, and remember why we are all here in the first place.
Deal or No Deal? Too bad there's not a Howie Mandel emoticon around when you need one!

Thanks marker150.
Texas boys and Tennesse boys are a lot alike. If we could find a way to get rid of Arkinsaw, one of us could elevate or lower our lattitude to become next door neighbors.
Funny thing, I've noticed most unhappy boaters do not list their email addresses on their personal profiles on the different forums. I reckon you must be a happy boater just like me!
Give me a T for Texas, Give me a T for Tennessee!!! Give me some plain yeller mustard, Grey Poupon just ain't for me!!!

Anybody named redneck joe has got to be a friendly in the eyes of another redneck yacht club member like me!
I used to own a Bayliner myself. Course I used to wear diapers too, but managed to outgrow both! :jk:
I've "met" the lady you talked about along with another lady who frequents this forum as well. I may be a reneck with a big mouth, but I am nothing if not a true Southern gentlemen in every sense of the word when it comes to the ladies.
This place is starting to feel like home already. I'll be back in a minute and will share a boating story with you guys that actually got heckled on the BoatUS forum. Maybe ya'll will enjoy it or not say anything at all.
That's the way my Mamma taught me, "If you cain't say nuthin' nice, just shut the hell up!"
Mamma always could say things in such a way as I could understand, but I learned real quick not to git into her box of choklits, cause I knew exactly what I'd git, WHOOPED!!!

Hello!...My name is Miguel, I have my boat waaaay south, where the sun always shines, and just see winter on TV. If you agree I would love to share boating experiences,..in fact all kind of experiences with you. I am 65 going to 66. Just talked to my son, he is already at the marina, and he had just got a nice barracuda and a yellowtail snapper. He got a giant bite but after about 15 minutes line broke. Never saw what was, but it was heavy and went to the bottom. I am leaving at noon.
C'mon....say yes

hatteras sucks!
welcome :thumbsup:Yes, Hatteras sucks... Bayliners up and spits them out after chewing on them long enough to make them into Sea Rays!!! :jk:
For the record, I've owned a Bayliner, 10 Sea Rays, Wellcrafts, Allisons, Quachita's, Aqua-Finns, Norris Crafts, Boston Whalers, Avons, Lowe's, Ghee-noe's.... um, now I'm gonna have to take off my dang shoes!
I hope this doesn't offend anybody as it seemed to on other forums, but I'm 49 years old and have had my own boat since about age 12. Since that time I've owned everything from jon boats to hydroplanes, 100mph+ go fast boats to cuddies, express cruisers to motoryachts, and everything in between.
To assist me in feeding my habit, I obtained a boat dealer's license about 20 years ago but only to help me keep from going broke over my addiction.
I came from a beat up old mobile home on the bank of The Tennessee River to a 3 acre estate on the main channel which is now just a memory (a fuzzy one at that) after I got myself sick in part because I had become a workaholic whose little choo choo got derailed for a couple of years having started my own business which has allowed me to enjoy things I never dreamed of as a 22 year old struggling college student who had been on his own since age 17.
I sure do hope I can fit in here better than I fit into some other places. All modesty aside, I am the epitome of someone who has been there, done that, in many areas of my life. I still have a lot to learn, and I hope ya'll can help me in that quest.
I'm done talkin' now. It's your turn agin'.

And now, since you were the first to reply, I have a question for you...
How the heck can I paste a picture, avatar, over my signature,..like the pelican you have or the Taz or whatever. I don't find it in the Control Panel.

I'm not a snob who brags about toys, I just figure if any of you boys like scooters and cars and stuff it'll give us more to talk about!
Markline? Is that like a generic Marinette or somthing? Nope, never owned one or heard of that brand before.
Hell boys, I don't claim to have all the answers. I only know about 1/4 of the questions. I've just been lucky enough to have owned a bunch of boats, that's all.

Glad you feel like family because we're ALL

I just LOVE company! Anytime you or any other members are around Knoxville, TN or Palmetto, FL, give me a shout.
Hell, I ain't shy, 800/251-9992 week daze. Always happy to talk to happy boaters or happy wannabe boaters.
I'm in the middle of organizing a little get together with some good ole' boys from the Hatteras owners forum (really, good ole' boys can own a Hatteras too!). We're kinda thinking of meeting up somewhere around Ft Myers or Lake O in the next couple of months or so depending on those spinny things and water levels in Lake O and other stuff like that.
We don't care if you show up in a Hatteras, Christensen, or paddle boat! There are some snobby Hatt owners, but we like to throw Bayliners at them boys and dunk their heads in Grey Poupon jars!
The more the merrier we always say. Besides, having ya'll show up in your little boats makes us feel superior! Some of us need all the help we can get in that department!

Yep, there are some other boat for ums, but they should be called aginst ums!
Ya'll sure did make me feel better about this one having been out all day. Hell, I made what I thought was a very nice and sincere post of one of them aginst ums one morning, and by the time I logged back on I'd been called everything but a @#$%^&*. Come to think of it, they called me that too!
Oh well, I'm always nice until somebody gits my goat!!! Speaking of goats, do ya'll know what you call a Alabama football player with a goat under one arm and a sheep under the other?
I ain't gonna answer my own question, unless of course ya'll ask me to.
Now do ya?, do ya?, do ya?

I just have to share a little story with you guys. A "buddy" of mine on the BoatUS message board was telling everybody I got kicked off that forum. Some other guy said he knew for a fact I had been kicked off, this on a thread I started telling the members of that forum I was leaving for bluer water.
My farewell thread had turned into various topics which ended up having Hatteras yachts a topic as well. I used the quote button on the guy's comment he knew I had been kicked off that forum and wrote, "Being a multiple Hatteras owner I would love to comment on this, but I got kicked off this forum"!
One guy got mad because I took the thread off-topic, and two more said they were leaving because the thread had gotten interesting and I ruined it with my statement! Looks like they missed the whole point as I was just dispelling the statement my "buddy" made that I was kicked off.
Let me just say this, TNT rules especially where its members IQ is concerned. Those other guys?
