Is the ACR Aquafix with the internal unit a good unit? What is the main difference between this unit and a normal epirb if they both have pinpoint accuracy other than having to manually activate the Aquafix? Thanks in advance.

T Bone,
Thats the unit I have, the Aquafix PLB. PLB's have minimium battery life of 24 hrs and it is portable and very small, meaning it can be taken backpacking or wherever. It probably will not transmit properly unless it is kept basically out of the water and right side up and can be attached to a person. A regular epirb, floats, tranmits while in the water and has a 48 hour battery. It is a much bigger unit and is assigned to the boat, not nearly as portable. A full sized epirb can also be water activated when floating free out of the carrier and it may have a strobe. Those are the basic differences. I hope that helps. I hope I did not step on ur toes LRSE, just trying to get him some info....
