I bought a boat out of Islip NY and it had an Givens 6 man life raft with it. It is a low serial number hence I bellieve it is an older model. The previous owner said it had been recertified about 3 years ago but I can't find any paper work. Now I fish out of Pensacola, Fl, in the Gulf of Mexico and don't want to use the raft. I understand it is a good raft but will need to be repacked. Now, what do I do with it. Trash it or try to sell it. I suspect repacking would cost up to $1000 dollars. Any suggestions?

Before you go out and throw away a potentially great raft, have it checked out. Just the other day my shop opened up inspected, and than repacked a Givens from 1984 for under $500. The raft was in great shape. Give Yusri a call at Solution One in Tampa (800) 826 1136 I beleive to be your closest service satation to have an estimate done on the servicing of the life raft. It just may be worth holding onto. If it is not worth servicing ive me a call, I can give you a great deal on a life raft
