i am looking at a purchasing an '00 Venture with the following electronics...
Furuno 582L sounder
Furuno 841 Mark 2
Northstar 951X

They all work; but which would be a priority replacement... or in other words which (if not all) are so outdated that they really should be replaced? If I didnt replace all at once where would i see the most improvement in an upgrade?

I would replace the 951 right away. It is/was a nice unit, but technology has come so far in the last few years on chartplotters that you would get much more enjoyment out of a new system. Your FF and Radar are fine.

I would replace the 951 with a current multi-function display such as the Raymarine C120, E120, or Navnet RDP149 display which will give you a state-of-the-art GPS/Chartplotter, and give you a foundation to grow from as the other units need replacing.

Another GPS to look at is the Garmin 3210.
