Looking to pick up a couple of kayaks for me and the kids. Looking at the sit on top models and will need to hold two people around 400 lbs (inluding gear). Any recommendations?
Thank you!

We have a Mainstream Tango that we bought used. Seats 2 (has a spot for a 3rd between the legs of the back person for a smaller child) and has a small tray for a cooler. It is pretty light and seems amazingly stable, but we have only ever had it in flat water. My girls and wife have climed on and off of it from our boat without coming close to tipping it. It does have scuppers in the seat and leg areas, so it's not a dry ride. If you plan to paddle it all day, make sure you get a back rest for whatever you end up with.

Have a friend who sells Hydra kayaks (or at least he did last I checked). They make a 2 man sit on top that I've used to fish and dive from and found it fairly stable with my gear on it, but I've got nothing to compare it to. I can get you some prices if you want.

EDIT: Just googled it and they are made by "rotonics", and it is called the Hyrda Aquanaut Twin. It holds 450lbs and is 13'6" long.

Tandem kayaks are not all made for two adults. Some of them are only made for a couple of 12 year olds. Forget the wheight limit that the catolog says. Its all a bunch of bull until you demo. A yak with scuppers should allow a water to go down but not come back in. Tandems can be fast and fun when both paddlers are skilled at paddling as a team. They can be frustrating when paddlers are amatuers.
At our shop 9 out of 10 people who come to buy a tandem leave with 2 singles after their education. Kids at 8 years old can all paddle their own yak.
The best tandem we have ever carried is made by Cobra. It has a true ,dry, and stable 500 pound capacity. The Hobie foot propelled tandem is amazing if you can afford the $1900.

Ocean Kayak Malibu 2 or a WS Tarpon 130. Test them both and pick.

I haven't actually paddled them, but the Tarpon 130 is marketed to be used as both a double and a single. It might be a good option if you are going to paddle by yourself sometimes.
