CONTACT: We give you the option of using your personal contact information in the online ads, using ours, or using both. We are more than happy to talk about your boat to potential buyers. We strongly feel that using both is the best approach. This way the customer can always reach someone on the first attempt.

SHOWING: For now this is the only part that you will have to do yourself unless you are located within a reasonable distance of one of our agents. We firmly believe that nobody knows your boat as well as you. So who better to show it to the buyer?

FINANCING: We provide in-house financing for any potential buyer that may need it. Offering this service brings more potential buyers to your boat. Closing can be arranged within 48 hours of approval. The contract can be sent via Federal Express next day or one of our agents can meet in person with the buyer to close on the loan.

CLOSING: Anglers Edge Marine will provide you with a legal Bill of Sale specific to the state you are selling from. This bill of sale also includes a detailed checklist to insure that it is completed properly for both buyer and seller. we can be present at the closing either in person, on the phone, or via skype.

SHIPPING: Anglers Edge Marine can make all arrangements for local, national and international shipping at the expense of the buyer unless otherwise agreed.

OVERSEAS BUYERS: This has become very common in the past ten years. With the Euro strong and getting stronger it will become even more common. This has opened up an entirely new market for potential buyers. If you get an overseas buyer let us handle everything for you. International transactions can be tricky in many ways. We have sold countless boats to over a dozen different countries. Let us protect you in this situation.

We feel that these services make selling your boat virtually hassle-free and protect the seller from large commissions that traditional brokers demand. If you have any questions about this service we encourage you to give us a call.

Do you offer any type of market analysis of different boats? Or previous sales figures? Just trying to see how the values are determined.

Normally that would be an easy answer. Given the economic situation values are tough to nail down. What seems to work best is to start where we know is a little high and work down the price until the phone rings. When the phone rings we know we found the right number. Hope that makes sense

Tight lines, Bob

How is your success rate with diesel inboard boats? Or do you specialize in out center console type. I have a diesel express and would like to move up to a diesel traditional sport fish type boat

X2....

My boat is broker listed, but he's a friend, and will work with me when the time comes. His $$ will be a cost to me, not added to the price. If I find out where he's listed, can I give that to you, and list with you? To avoid double listings? Or is that impractical?

thanks!!

Randy

Why pay you $250 when I can post on Craigslist for free. Aren't most people posting ads themselves on the internet nowadays?

Craigslist is great if you own a jon boat. Sure you can advertise yourself on the web. See if you can get yourself on the sites I use for less than what I charge and have it listed until it sells

I guess all of us boat dealers like throwing money away? There is a reason we pay what we do to be on the real boat classified sites. They work!

Everything that is reasonably priced and in good condition is selling accross the board. 4 stroke power will also make sales easier as always. Your problem is iboats. I used them for years as one of my many advertising sites. They were a nightmare to deal with. They are running on a very old feed type which causes constant problems. For over a year they kept telling me they were on it and the problems would be solved. Finally after almost 2 years of paying them monthly and empty promises I dumped them. Other problems were with the "manufacturer" field. If I feed through a Jones Brothers Cape Fisherman for some reason the manufacturer would come up as "Holland" !! What the heck is that. This happened with many many manufacturers. From my side that is a big problem. They also could not get the boat location correct. I'll stop there but I could go on. I stopped feeding my inventory to them in 2008. That year I think I sold a total of 12 boats via their site. They just seem more focused on their message boards there than anything else.

If you are getting calls and emails then you are likely priced right and your boat must show well in the ads. My philosophy is simple. Advertise everywhere you possibly can so the guy that's looking for your boat can't miss it! That simple.

Feel free to give a call if you would like to chat in more detail.

Thanks for the info. I have a guy coming up the middle of next week to look at the boat. If for some reason the deal doesn't happen I'll call you. I had a guy come down from Northeast Florida a week ago but his financing had a problem at the last minute. He wasn't happy at all with the bank.

Hello,
I sent you an email to your hotmail account about listing my boat but have not received a reply.
Is this still a valid address?

If not, what's next?

Thanks,

Hey Ed, I don't have anything in my inbox from you...Are you sure you got the email address correct ( bobfilger@hotmail.com ) If so dod you maybe try to send several pictures through that were large files?? Sometimes that can make an email vanish in cyberspace. Not sure why but they don't come back to you or come through to me when that happens.

Give a call....If you don't hear back from me on a call or and email in 24 hours that means I didn't get it. 570-832-4362

Tight lines, Bob

You can do both to maximize your exposure, for sure. A CL ad is good for the price, and is bad for the scam responses. I use CL in addition to Anglers Edge because I like exposure and don't mind scammers.

However, CL is a geographical thing; most sales are from close-by buyers.

National exposure that Bob provides isn't competing with CL, but rather expanding the exposure by thousands of miles.

I've sold 12 boats in and used AEM + CL for all of them. 10 of the boats sold from leads generated by AEM, 2 came from CL ads. What's important is that I sold boats quickly.

Today marks the day that my 24' cruiser left the driveway bound for PA. Lead came from an anglers edge ad. What's especially satisfying is that today also marks the official closing of our boating areas on the Gulf Coast near Pensacola and Orange Beach. I would have had a boat 200 yards from the water and not even been able to launch it for the summer.

I am perfectly happy to send Bob $249 for the opportunity to sell a boat within 30 days for each of the under-30' boats I listed.

Your results may vary...

Are there any RSS Feeds at AE? Or any other way to monitor new inventory for specific criteria (i.e., manufacturer, or a certain category within a size range)?
