My motor is really giving me a fit. It fires right up on the first pull. After taking the choke off, I can't get the motor to get over anything more than idle. If I try to give it some gas the motor dies out. I can't even get the throttle past the start indicator on the tiller handle without the unit dying off. Thanks for your help!

take the carb off and clean also clean your fuel tank.

I was hoping this wouldn't be a suggestion but thinking that this may be the problem. Is this the consensus?

Do you have an inline fuel filter?? If so replace the filter. If not make sure you install one once you get it running.

Have you been using gasoline with ethanol? Start using pure gasoline, ethanol creates water and water in the fuel is an outboard motor's biggest problem.
