Default I need some good info

I will be winterizing my optimax 150 / 2001 and have been told that what I have done in the past is a big waste of my time and money that said this is my qustion. In the past I have pumped about 2 gal. of antifreeze through the flush fitting on the upper back of the motor until the antifreeze starts to run out the bottom I was also told that the motor will self drain all water out this why they said waste of time and money am I or is this the way to do it ??

Thanks for your help
