Question 1985 Yamaha 50hp 2-stroke

Hi, Hoping you can help!
I need to replace the impellor on the above and I am having problems seperating the bottom unit
I have removed the 4 bolts, the anodisor unit, but the bolt head sheared off the last bolt.
The bolt should be removable/replaced once the bottom end is off.
I have tried everything, but my sevice manual is limited in information, can any one help me?
Many thanks
Andy

you have to unscrew the shift rod ....the joint is just above the lower unit (where it joins the main trunk) toward the bow or front on of engine....

Have had a quick look at what you have explained, your right this will need disconnecting, but the bottom end would still seem to be quiet solid (but i have not tried to sepatate) due to the time in the UK. Does this release something to drop the lower end
Many thanks again!!

If I remember correctly (i could be wrong) under the anodisor their might be another bolt..if all bolts and shift rod undone it might be really hard to seperate......

Thanks again, secjurny!
Yes I have removed the 5th bolt under the anodisor, this was the one that the head of the bolt sheared, do you think carefel brute force?.Someone said apply heat with a blow torch to help break the salt water corrosion. Have tried chiseling around the clear separated break but to no affect

Thanks Andy

I would be careful with the heat...and I have used a BIG rubber mallet. I have one with a 24" handle and hard white rubber on the end. Spray penetrating fluid along the seam. Let it set up a bit and start pounding it. You may want to leave at least one bolt in it in case it drops...

Thanks triumphrick!
Have already tried the large rubber mallet trick but to no avail!
Is it standard penetration fluid that i use as i have tried WD40 but this has not worked.
Agree with the single bolt i had already thought of that one!
Did you just pound the side casings?

Thanks again
Andy
