Yamaha 90 TLRD oil tank leak - The Hull Truth

My 90 TLRD 2005 model is leaking around the boot on the oil level sensor plug on the "sidebar" of the under cowling oil tank. This seems like no big deal but there was about a quart of oil on the garage floor after a few weeks. Is there a quick fix, like pull the sensor and put form-a-gasket on it? Or a tie wrap around the boot? It seems there would be no pressure, gravity only, correct?

DO NOT put sealer on the sensor! You can try a ty strap. It is important that the sensor is properly oriented in the tank or it can leak and the sensor may not function correctly. Some of these tanks and sensors had defects. You may be able to get some warranty help from Yamaha on this problem. Call Customer Relations at 1-866-894-1626.
