can i adjust idle on 1999 ox66 225hp efi - The Hull Truth

engine starts right up and generally runs perfect....only issue is idle is only 400-500...barely above stall out...does not surge or anything...just a low idle...i know it should be closer to 700.

i read another post here re: adjusting idle...loosen pickup screw, align center throttle control cam roller, turn throttle stop screw to right to increase idle, tighten up pickup screw...

but somewhere else i read idle on this can't be adjusted just with a screw..that its all controlled by the computer...

The engine needs to be sync and linked. The voltage at the TP sensor is part of the procedeure. If the sync link is not done correctly using the Yamaha tools and manual, the screw in the throttle body will be stripped. The complete thottle body will have to be replaces at a cost of over $2000. Find a tech familiar with the procedure and pay him to do it. Sync link doesnt change after its been set unless someone plays with it.

thank you - checked the sync, all ok, tps voltage was in spec...adjusted idle per the manual...barely an 1/10th of a turn clockwise brought my rpms up to spec. Thank you.
