 F150 speed indicator pickup question
Greetings,
I have a boat with twin 2005 F150 Yamaha motors. I recently replaced the water pumps. Shortly ater that, the speed indicator on my Yamaha guage has not worked correctly. I determined the starboard engine was being used for the water pickup. I made sure water pick up hole was clear and blew air from canned air back down through the tubing. It still didn't work. I spliced the pickup tubing from the port engine into the tubing going to the gauge and it works now. It appears the pickup connection that is disconnectd/reconnected when replacing the water pump in the lower uint could have come apart or it is clogged in the tubing.If the pickup tube did break or become disconnected, can the water pickup connection problem in the lower unit cause any problem if I just leave it and use the port engine for the speeed pickup?
