Default RPM Gauge

1989 200 ETXF. When I bought the boat the digital RPM gauge was dim and barely readable, but appeared to read correctly. I bought a used replacement that reads nice and bright but the RPM's are way off. At idle it shows 2800 and at 3/4 power 8800rpm.

Is there a way to calibrate the gauge? I can't find anything about this in my service manual.

Hmm, didn't know there are dip switches.

I don't know how old the gauge is but it's the same part number as the one it replaced. How do I find out where the dip switches should be set? (Of course I'm an idiot and already threw out the old one - DOH!)

The dip switches are under a ruber plug on the back of the tach. All the dip switches should be in the down position.
