Hi,I am having a problem with over heating.I've had new thermostats and water pump replaced. At an idle it seems ok but when I get up on plane the temp gauge rises up and the horn sounds. But on 1 occasion it ran cool and then we slowed down and the sped back up it got hot. When I put the ears on it, it stays cool. What should be looked at next? Thanks

Cooling problems can never be trouble shot running on the hose. The pressure of the water going into the flusher will mask the problem. Your engine has a number of cooling system features that are unusual. An experianced tech can change the thermostat style to the type used on the 93 up 225 carb engines which may solve the problem. You should also check the front of the gearcase and the bottom of the boat for damage. Damage that messes up water flow can also cause overheating.

10 psi minimum and the engine should run about 135-140 degrees at idle. Higher speed shoul be 100-110 depending an the temp of the water you are boating in.
