Cool Yamaha Pressure Relief Valve

Yamaha redesigned the Pressure Relief Valve from one with two stems to one with a mushroom end and a stem. Diagram shows stem to face motor with mushroom towards spring! Discussions vary on correct placement of new design valve! Any input would help! Thanks...

About three years ago I got an overheat alarm and found the valve all crudded up. I changed it to the new style and put it together with the spring on the stem. It hasn't missed a lick since.

I replaced mine about 2 months ago after getting alarms while traveling in no wake zones. I stretched the spring a little and installed spring on stem. No problems since and tell-tale has a stronger stream. The old style stem had a slight groove and maybe kept valve from fully seating. Good luck, John

The Yamaha diagram is incorrect. The stem goes into the spring and the dome into the rubber seat.
