Yamaha 225 - fuel leak at back of cowl
Hello All. This question is for a 2003 Yamaha 225 4-stroke. Can anyone explain to me about where a fuel leak on my engine is coming from? I cannot get back to work on my engine for 2 or 3 days, but I can read any replies to this question on the forum and hope to have a headstart on my problem when I get back to it. Engine hasn't run for awhile so I hooked up a water hose and ran it in the driveway. Started up fine, but a idled a bit rough. However, I noticed fuel coming out of a hole on the lower aft left side of the cowling, fast enough that it can almost be called a stream and not a drip. It is a small drain hole, and with the cowling removed, I can see there is a line attached this drain hole. This line runs to a small plastic box at the aft lower side of the engine bay. The box is about as big as a small digital camera. From this box are two more lines, one each running up to the top of each side of the engine and under the plastic cover on top. This is where I had to stop and will not be able to get to it for a few days. Where are these lines draining from and what does it indicate has happened when this happens? Because this engine has not run for quite a few months, I was quite surprised that it started and ran after a few cranks. I expected to possibly have to clean/soak the VST and injectors, but have never experienced this. Thanks in advance for reading this long post. Regards, James.
