The problem may not be the CDI box. The CDI gets a signal votage from a pulser coil under the flywheel. There are 7 wires going to the pulser (trigger) white with colored tracers and a black ground. Check each of the wires to ground, for output, while cranking the engine. You should see the same voltage on each wire. If not you may have found the problem. The CDI on these engines also contains EFI and timing functions. If this is a 25 inch engine be aware they drop cylinders at idle. If you are checking spark with the engine running this may be what you are seeing. If you have a bad pulser on #2 you will also loose injection on #3. All cylinders on this engine fire every revolution, 60 degrees apart. No two cylinders are at TDC at the same time. The CDI outputs can be checked with an ohmeter. Disconnect the wires. check to ground, reverse leads, check again. The readings should be similar on all wires.
