1990 140hp OMC - The Hull Truth

I have a 140hp OMC outboard. It runs great except when I go from in gear to reverse or reverse to in gear it will die. It will also die when going into neutral. It will idle when the warm up lever is pulled out but not when its in. Any ideas?

If your engine has not been decarbed recently, try that. If decarb does not solve the problem try cleaning the carbs. The plastic float bowls on these engines have been known to leak along with the aluminum cover on the side of the carb.

We just had all the carbs redone. Do you still think we need to clean them again?

If the carbs were properly cleaned nothing would be gained by doing it again. When the carbs are replaced the sync and link needs to be checked. Improper sync and link can cause the symptoms you are having.
