Default Trim and tilt switch replacement-need help.

My question has to do with how to run the lead. The old one was wrapped around the pivot point at the bottom of the control lever before running into the console. I see that in order for the lever to rotate forward and back, there has to be some way to provide slack, and allow for it to expand, so to speak. Is there a best way to do this?
This is a top mounted control assembly.

It is important to install the new switch lead the same way the old on was installed. The wrap around the pivot allows for the movement of the handle. Incorrect installation will cause the wires to break. If you have a problem see your dealer.

That wasn't much help.
The lead had to be routed from the control handle where the switch is located, down the handle to the back side of the pivot, around the pivot one time so that it passes under the bottom as it goes into the console. Aggravating job as the control has a very small hole for the lead to pass through, and it must make a 90 deg. turn down. It required the removal of the control assembly from the console enough to grab each connector from behind and pull it through. I should have drilled a bigger hole to pass the leads through, but the drill was far away. Oh well, it's done and works just fine.
