Make certain the wires going to the temp switch do not touch the spark plug wire. Remove the thermostat and check for sticking. While it is out start the engine and look for the flow of water from the opening. You should have a large stream of water shooting out. The engine at idle should run about 135 degrees, this is very hot to the touch. Check this with an infrared temp gun.
