mercury 2000 optimax 225's - The Hull Truth

I am looking at a boat with twin 2000 Mercury Optimax 225's on it with around 100hrs. wondering what the deal is with these motors as far as reliability. from what i've found bassmaster types had problems with these motors. any input would be much appreciated, thanks guys

All modern outboards are reliable. Many of the problems you hear about are caused by gasoline that has deteriorated. Outboards require maintenance more often than your car. When buying a used outboard the maintenance records are the thing to be looked at. An outboard that has been properly maintained and stored will last for thousands of hours. Neglecting the boat will cause an early death.
