Default Trim/Tilt not working

Hello! 1987 Mercury 50hp 3 cylinder outboard with power trim/tilt isn't working. New battery just days ago. When you press the tab up or down, you hear a *CLICK* at the outboard where the wire comes up from the hydraulic motor into the outboard, but nothing happens in the hydralics. Wiring? solenoid? Any input is much appreciated!! Thanks!

Thje first thing we need to know is if the motor is turning. If the motor is not turning the problem likely is the solenoids. Normally when one is bad the the other is not far behind. Replace both. If the motor is turning and nothing happens the unit will need to be taken apart for a more detailed examination.

I have the same motor just a little newer(96) and had the same problem. I changed the 5 blade 12v relays under the cowl and problem solved. Give it a try!
